different career paths a licensed cosmetologist can take. Consider
these cool jobs.
Stylist – This is where most students start their cosmetology
career. You’ll be styling hair, doing color, and gaining
experience while learning more about the profession.
Platform Artist – Manufacturers like to hire cosmetologists
that excel in their specialized area. So, if you’re awesome
at coloring, you could demonstrate your talent by using and selling
their hair color products.
Salon Manager – Once you’ve proven yourself as a responsible
and creative cosmetologist, you could be promoted into management
at the salon. This additional responsibility often means more income.
You might even decide that you’d like to go from renting
a booth to owning your own business.
Salon Owner – Owning your own salon can
be very rewarding but to be successful, it requires a basic knowledge
of business.
Since MCC offers an Associate
in Applied Science degree through Lincoln College,
it’s the perfect opportunity to take extra business courses
you need to learn about business concepts.
Manufacturer’s Representative – Companies look for
professionals to represent them in the marketplace. With a basic
knowledge of cosmetology, you would be a great asset to a market
a line of hair care or make up products to salons.
Make-up Artist – Cosmetic companies look for licensed professionals
to demonstrate and sell their products. When you see a person applying
make-up in a department store, it’s likely that they are
an Esthetician or Cosmetologist.
