Cosmetology Instructor

Job Description: Instructors must demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. The effective Instructor is a team player and totally committed to the instructional process. He/She is prepared to seek out continued education to constantly upgrade his/her skills. The standards of education outlined by the school must be continually demonstrated. As an Instructor in the company, you are a role model to all of the students.

The Instructor reports to the Director, the Salon Floor Manager, and the Education Manager.

Duties vary per department assignment and Instructors may be required to substitute in different areas as necessary. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct theory and practical classes as assigned in an organized, prepared fashion. Utilize basic curriculum along with new techniques learned.
  • Follows written procedures for teaching curriculum, using and enforcing correct terminology
  • Determine that students follow rules and regulations at all times; enforce all state required sanitation rules.
  • Follows ethical practices and standards according to the Lincoln College and MCC handbook and policy/procedure manual. Creates a motivational atmosphere.
  • Conducts monthly advisory sessions for students in the instructor’s area to evaluate student performance; conducts additional advisory sessions as necessary to correct student deficiencies or address potential obstacles.
    a. monthly progress reports
    b. monthly meetings with Educational Manager
  • Maintains student records, including recording of grades and other documentations of student activities within the classroom.
  • Prepares daily detailed lesson plans for theory and practical classes; updates lesson plans as necessary.
  • Issues supplies, maintains inventory, and monitors supply usage for their class.
  • Determines that all students are demonstrating applied effort at all times.
  • Communicates with other staff to ensure a positive team effort is maintained. This includes, but is not limited to; questioning others without accusing them; being open to helpful ideas and situations noticed by team members; helping other team members in the classroom and on the clinic floor.
  • Attends all company, school and departmental staff meetings as assigned.
  • Satisfies continuing educational requirements of the school per the IDFPR and MCC policies. Attends outside classes that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the instructor.

Part-Time Instructor of Esthetics
