Midwest College of Cosmetology Students Raise Money for National M. S. Society with Chair Massage Fundraiser on May 1stNormal, Ill. April 29, 2009 - The instructors at Midwest College of Cosmetology, are used to seeing change. After all, they’re in the beauty business. They consult with clients who want to update their looks on a daily basis. And watching the physical metamorphosis of their students is an everyday occurrence, as many regularly experiment with their hair and makeup as they master the skills of their trade. Still the change the students recently demonstrated has been nothing less that inspirational! The M.C.C. instructors admit they were initially skeptical, when a group of students approached them with an idea. The students wanted to honor individual family members and others in the community, living with Multiple Sclerosis. They asked for permission to raise money and form a team of volunteers to walk in a national event. Ultimately, a team of more than 26 students and instructors from M.C.C. will walk with hundreds of others from the Central Illinois region during the National M. S. Society Walk on Sunday, May 3 in Bloomington. And although the group has already exceeded their initial fundraising goal of $1500, they decided to keep going. The students have organized a chair-massage fundraiser for Friday, May 1 on the front lawn of the M.C.C. building. Anyone willing to make a donation will receive a 15-minute chair massage. All the money raised will be donated to the National MS Society. Anyone interested in making a donation or participating in the walk can visit: MS / MCC Team’s Web Site
