MCC Students Compete in Hair Show

Normal, Ill. – A group of 13 MCC students were lucky enough to travel to Chicago recently to participate in the Illinois Association of Cosmetology Schools Competition. The event, which was held in Tinley Park, Ill., showcases up-and-coming talent from across the state.

The highlight of the event is the individual and team competition, where students get a chance to demonstrate their unique style in a fun and challenging environment. Participants compete for individual prizes and recognition in a variety of categories including: Club Mix, Red Carpet Diva, Avant-Garde, and Color to the Extreme.

Anita Bradford, a Cosmetology Instructor at MCC, coordinated the student trip this year. Students who were planning to compete began working with their models and perfecting their technique well in advance of the competition. All the hard work paid off because this year, both of the MCC students who competed earned high marks:

Amber Post received 3rd place in the Avant-Garde category
Yvonne Dodd competed in the Club Mix category
